Viraj Muthugala

I am a research fellow at Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), Singapore. I am interested in Reconfigurable robotics, Path Planning, Human-robot interaction, and Service robotics.

I earned my doctoral degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in July 2018. As my doctoral research, I have developed an interactive robot for assisting disabled/elderly persons in domestic environments and the main focus of the research was to develop an intelligent system to understand uncertain information such as “small”, “far” and “little” by adapting the perception of the robot based on context, environment and the experience.

Look forward to IROS 2022 which will be held from 23-27th October in Kyoto, Japan. 4 papers co-authored by me will be presented there.

It was a pleasure to share our robotics research with the computational intelligence community at the IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence (WCCI) held from 18-23 July, Padua, Italy.

Presented the paper entitled "Design by Robot: A Human-Robot Collaborative Framework for Improving Productivity of a Floor Cleaning Robot" in IEEE ICRA 2022 held in Philadelphia, USA.
